"Central TDPJ" is a complete software for accountants to use during their daily lives. The company already had an active working product, but wanted to improve its usability for customers based on the difficulties they were having with the current product. In this project, I performed my first UX Research and learned a lot about how to deal with and understand how different types of users act.
I was hired as a Freelancer by a software company called "Mondrian" to perform a simple task: improve the usability of one of their most popular programs. When I came across the program, I realized that it had a very archaic look and was difficult to compress, which ended up resulting in a complete redesign of the program.
As previously mentioned, this project was my first contact with the UX Research area. As soon as I saw the face of the program, I realized that I would need a lot of outside help to understand specific terms and features. I then used 20% of the initial buget to call a small team of accountants to answer some of my questions and to show me how they use the program in question in their daily lives. The program, at the time, was not practical at all, forcing users to do long, repetitive streams every day, which led to my first addition to the project: creating an interactive and customizable dashboard by the user. I added a tab with the functions most used by the accountant and easy access links to tutorials on how to carry out some type of very specific process. In addition, I added a side tab that would make it easier for the user to navigate the product. Despite the low number of people I was able to interview, it was one of the most interesting experiences in my career so far.
The biggest challenge of this project was to understand how the user behaved when using the program. Particularly, I was never interested in the accounting area, and therefore, it was a challenge to understand the user's way of thinking and how to make their life easier, but this problem was very well solved through the UX Research that I carried out at the beginning of process.
